Terms of service

These terms apply when you use Inherit. We've kept them short and plain. By creating an account or using a workspace, you agree to them.

1. What Inherit is

Inherit helps the buyer of a business capture how it runs: it reads the business’s records with read-only access, asks the seller short questions, and writes an operating manual. It also offers answers, heads-ups, customer introductions and readiness reports.

2. Consent comes first

You may only connect or upload records you have the right to share. Before anything is read, both the buyer and the seller sign a capture consent naming what may be read. The buyer is responsible for telling employees whose work email or records may be read, and for following any law that applies to them.

3. Your data stays yours

The business’s records, the seller’s answers and the manual belong to you. You give us permission to process them only to provide Inherit to your workspace. We don’t sell them, and we don’t use them to train AI models. Our privacy policy explains how they’re handled.

4. Check before you rely on it

Inherit is written with AI and can be wrong. Every entry says how far to trust it (Seller confirmed, Found in data or Unconfirmed) and shows where it came from. Check anything important, especially Unconfirmed entries, before you act on it.

Inherit is not a lender, law firm or broker, and doesn’t give legal, tax or financial advice. Readiness reports summarize knowledge-capture progress; they are not a valuation, audit or credit opinion.

5. Sharing with a lender or broker

The buyer can share a workspace’s readiness figures with a lender or broker. They see figures only, never records, the manual or answers. The buyer can stop sharing at any time.

6. Using Inherit fairly

  • Don’t use Inherit to read records you aren’t allowed to, or about people who haven’t been told.
  • Don’t try to get into workspaces that aren’t yours, or disrupt the service.
  • Keep your sign-in, and the seller’s private link, to the people they’re meant for.

7. Fees

Prices are on our pricing page. If we change them, we’ll tell you before the change applies to you.

8. Stopping

You can disconnect any source, close a workspace (everything in it is deleted after 30 days unless you reopen it), or delete it at once. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why.

9. Our responsibility

We work hard to keep Inherit available and accurate, but provide it as it is. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect losses, or for decisions made on entries you didn’t check.

10. Changes and contact

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell account holders by email first. Questions? Contact us.
